Once a game is done being developed and produced by the game developers, the next step is, of course, to market them to the public. This is the task of the marketing team. In Melon Gaming, the people in charge of marketing hold an important role in promoting Melon Gaming's products to the public, and also in developing the company as a whole.
This time, we are chatting with Rangga and Geby, the people responsible for Melon Gaming's marketing and business development. They have given us some information about the marketing process and strategies used to promote Melon Gaming's products.

Q : What are the marketed products of Melon Gaming?
R : Our main product that we are trying to promote is our very own game engine, MelonJS. It is an open source HTML5-based game engine. It is lightweight, yet powerful, and it allows people to create their own games very easily.
G : Our game development team has developed several games using the MelonJS game engine, and they are available to play for free on Facebook Messenger. The games that are out so far are Slip Master, Garden Invasion, and Sushi Sekai. You can also find these games on Google Play Store for Androids.
Q : Who are the main marketing targets of Melon Gaming products?
R: We mainly market our game engine to game developers and game studio, so that they will try using MelonJS as their game engine choice.
G : Not only game studios, however, every game enthusiasts and anybody who are interested in making their own games can also use MelonJS. We believe that everyone can develop their dream games, and they can do it easier by using MelonJS.
Q : What are the strategies used to market Melon Gaming's products to the public?
G: Our main product, MelonJS is made to be an open source game engine, so anybody can use it for free. We are trying to encourage as many people as possible to use MelonJS as their game engine choice. So, we offer free tutorials and trainings for any developers who want to develop games in an easier way through MelonJS
R: We also try to introduce and promote our products through gaming events, both locally and internationally. Recently, we went to GamePrime -the largest game event for developers and game industry practitioners in ASEAN-to promote our products. We also got the honor to go to Tokyo Game Show, the largest game convention in Asia, and showcased our products there.
G : Other than gaming events, we also try to promote our game engine by holding game development competitions. We held our first Game Jam this year,called Melon Game Jam 2018 at Bina Nusantara University (Binus). We are holding another game development competition this year, called Melon Gaming Gamedev Contest. This time, the event is held virtually and is open to game developers all over the world.
