Facebook Instant Games just turned two years old. Going in line with the celebration, Facebook released the statistics and milestones the ever-growing gaming platform has achieved in the two years since its launch.
According to Facebook's Product Manager, Facebook Instant Games have served over 20 billion game sessions in two years, and they expect the numbers to continue growing. The number of games has also been growing very significantly. A year ago, Facebook only has 70 games on the platform, while this year the platform has well over 6,000 games from an array of genres.
To maintain the success of Instant Games, Facebook plans on continuously improving the platform to benefit the players as well as the Instant Games developers.
Facebook aims to keep responding to feedbacks from players and developers to improve the platform. Recently, they have put out "Play" buttons in all active gaming groups on Facebook, so people with shared interests can bond over Instant Games. Also, based on the players' feedbacks, on January 19, Facebook will include Game Bots as an opt-in feature for new players.
Complying with the developers' feedback, Facebook will also work on improving game discovery, increase engagement, retention and monetization. Apart from adding interstitial ads, Facebook will also be adding Player Acquisition ads for Instant Games, so that developers can target the exact players in almost any country they want.
Facebook Instant Games will only grow from here, and developers are expected to have a bright future ahead.
