Their job can be quite hectic, especially with deadlines that they have to meet. To ensure every job is well-managed and is done on time, a team needs a Production Manager.

As the name suggests, a Production Manager manages the production process of a game. But of course, there is more to it than that.

Q: What is the role of a production manager in a game development process?

A production manager's main role is to supervise and manage the progress of the design team, as well as the technical progress from the developer team in a game development process. We have to make sure that the team as a whole has a good workflow, and everything goes according to the timeframe we have initially agreed on.

 

Q: How do you maintain the teamwork between the design team and the developer team?

Each production manager might have a different method to maintain teamwork. What I personally do is I always ensure a two-way communication with both the design team and developer team.

We do that by having a daily meeting where each day, every individual from both teams report what they have worked on for the day. We also use the meeting to discuss and find solutions to any problems they might come across. For the design team especially, I always supervise their work and give suggestions on what they should or should not do, and what other developments they should try to make on their designs.
